Tonight was the premiere of Adopting Terror on Lifetime TV. I was on pins and needles waiting for my scene with Samaire Armstrong, which doesn't occur until about and hour and forty minutes in! And then, there I was! Yay!

Attended a screening of the documentary Miss Representation at the SAG Foundation tonight. Wow! If you haven't seen this film, you must!

All actors should have this opportunity . . . serving as a reader in a casting session. Today I helped a friend with a casting session by checking actors in for a few hours and then serving as a reader for a few hours. It's really informative to be on the "other side" of the audition process!

SAG Orientation

I attended an orientation for new SAG members today. Wow, did I learn a lot! A wonderful "working actor," Lee Garlington, ran the session. She was so full of information and so welcoming.

Storytelling Assemblies

Today I told stories to the kids at Agua Dulce School. What a wonderful gig! Just me standing in front of a mess of kids sitting on the floor of the MPR (that's mult-purpose room, by the way), telling folk tales. I've been telling there every year for about 6 or 7 years, and the kids are always so excited to see me again. Warms my heart big time!

Pan African Film Festival

High Card Trumps screened at the Pan African Film Festival this afternoon. I enjoyed talking to audience members afterwards. And I especially enjoyed re-connecting with the director, the writer, and one of the other actors afterwards over food and drinks!

Bahamas!

Got back yesterday from 5 nights in the Bahamas! Just my daughter and me, soaking up the sun all day for six glorious days. I'd never been there before, and I'm in love with the turquoise water and white sand.

Got to set today to film my scene in Adopting Terror, a Lifetime TV movie starring Sean Astin. The 2nd AD said she had a place for me to hang out . . . and I was so excited to see that I was given my first trailer! Okay, it was one fourth of a trailer, but still!

Today I went to the SAG office in Los Angeles and joined SAG! What a milestone for me! I'm now a union actor!

Voice Over Workout -- Promos!

I've been studying voice over with the wonderful Matthew Jay. Tonight we had a promo workout, practicing with actual tracks from television promos. What fun! Next week, we work on commercial copy again. Hope to making a voice over demo soon.
